Set up this sorting activity by scrambling up the events of a story and asking students to work together to arrange each post in the proper order using the connector tools. Padlet Example: 4W’s Global Read Aloud - The BFG Virtual Read Aloud: Share a book among students, or even other classrooms around the the world! Have students take turns reading a chapter or section of a book aloud and post recordings of each reading. Padlet boards can be organized into several types including a wall to organize content in a brick-like layout, a free form canvas, stream, a shelf to organize content into columns, backchannel, map, and timeline. If you aren’t familiar, Padlet is a collaborative board that allows teachers and students to add various types of multimedia content including text, images, videos, links, drawings, audio, and video recordings. There are so many creative ways it can be used in the classroom. The lesson plan uses Padlet and Wordle (another digital tool). I found this lesson plan intended for grades 2-5 about ‘Respecting Others and Ourselves’. Since I am looking to teach at the Elementary level, I focused it on that age-range. While doing research about using Padlet in the classroom, I also wanted to find lesson plans for it being used. This is great for students who do not have the best handwriting and for improving the students’ digital literacy. Students can make graphic organizers such as Venn Diagrams that compare and contrast two things. Students would be able to see their classmates ideas and also come up with their own. Brainstorming and Sharing Ideasīoth students and teachers can brainstorm ideas and put into Padlet. By using Padlet, teachers or students can add photographs to the timeline to make it more stimulating/ visually appealing.
Teachers and students can create summaries and/ or timelines for topics or books read. While all ten of these are great classroom uses for Padlet, the three that I found most helpful are: 1.
